I saw them walk
walk on broken feet
housing broken souls
then come to me each night
jam themselves in
too many fragile bodies
on my hard wooden frame
I was a bed in a camp
I witnessed
2
I watched them walk
I was forced
to be their end
I was made to beat
transparent limbs
and fatally pierce
the screaming hearts
I was a Nazi's gun at a camp
I witnessed
3
I held them
held lost lives, forgotten names
tattooed arms at odd angles
bodies with no breath
for it was stopped here
and I housed briefly the spirits
as my smoke was thrust to heaven
I was an oven's chimney in a camp
I witnessed
4
I buried them
covered torn flesh
of those dead
or still alive
I filled lungs, mouths, noses
and mingled with bones,
bones and blood and ash.
I was the soil at a camp.
and I witnessed
